Mentor Text 4 "Above and Beyoncé"

This text falls under the biography genre as it details certain aspects of Beyoncé's life. The kind of vibe I get from this text is one of realization. I get this vibe because I think everyone has this idea of what superstars are like and this highlights all the things that makes Beyoncé different than these pre-conceived notions. I think I am part of the intended audience because I think the intended audience for this is everyday people who have this imaginary idea of what superstars are really like and this text is intended to breakdown that stereotype. This text is about Beyoncé's stardom and personal life. I think its really neat how her and her husband (Jay-Z) attempt to live a private life even though they are each huge celebrities in their own right. They are not caught up in the fame but rather want to maintain a sense of normalcy through their relationship and home life. I also thought it was cool how even though Beyoncé grew up in a well-off family she still worked hard in order to accomplish her dreams. Lastly, I appreciate the perseverance that Beyoncé had when Destiny's Child fell apart. We all know of one-hit wonders or boy/girl bands that fall apart and from there each individual in the group gives up singing altogether. However, Beyoncé used this as fuel to create a personal name for herself and since then is probably the most well-known and esteemed female singer of the 21st century.
