The vibe I get from this text is frustration mixed with sympathy for the people who are transgender and are either living with family, friends or are not living anywhere at all. i feel frustration because I just don't understand how a family could turn their back on someone who they have raised their whole life. I love my family and I know wholeheartedly that if I were to go them tomorrow and tell them I am trans or gay they would still love and receive me as they did the day before. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for everyone which is very upsetting. I think everyone knows that trans people are not always accepted but hearing about it firsthand from people who have and are facing this issue makes it even more real. I think this text is especially for families who don't accept their kids and for people in the world who don't accept trans people at all and the backlash and barriers they put up. Hearing about how some landlords would not allow trans people to stay in their buildings or would raise rents just because they don't like trans people really upset me. That is like not letting someone in your restaurant or raising rent because they are Catholic or a Democrat/Republican. It doesn't make sense to me how some peoples prejudice views hinder their ability to be know right from wrong. I think this text gives an insight into how America is not as great as some would like to believe.
